Sending Warm Christmas Wishes

I pulled out a sketch to play with today because I’m once again not feeling very inspired. It’s not an uncommon feeling for me and I’m so grateful for sketches and patterned paper because they really help me to keep creating when I don’t necessarily feel like it.

Rustic Retreat Faux Metal Etching

I learned the faux metal etching technique from one of my favorites, Jennifer McGuire.  I thought this would be a great way to use the cabin on a card in a class that doesn’t require everyone to share the watercolor pencils or Stampin’ Blends.  I really like the look.

Measurements:

Shaded Spruce Cardstock	5 ½” x 7 ¾”, scored at 4 ¼”, 3 ½” x 5 ½”
Very Vanilla Cardstock	1 ½” x 2 ½”, 3” x 5 ¼”
Wrapped in Plaid Designer Series Paper	1” x 5 ½”
Gold Foil	3” x 3”, 1 ½” x 3”

Instructions:

1. Tap Embossing Buddy on Gold Foil before stamping house image with Versamark ink. Cover with clear embossing powder tapping off excess.  Heat embossing powder with heat tool.  Die cut with largest stitched square.
2. Using Shaded Spruce ink, stamp sentiment on Very Vanilla cardstock and punch out using Timeless Label punch.
3. Die cut two snowflakes from Gold Foil. (You may want to put double sided adhesive on the back of the Gold Foil before die cutting.)
4. Using Woodland embossing folder, embossing Shaded Spruce piece.
5. Fold card base. Using liquid glue, attach DSP to inside right and embossed piece to front.
6. Attach die cut square and punched label to front of card using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Tuck snowflakes behind label.  Add metallic pearls.

Rustic Retreat Simple Masculine Card

I saw a card with this layout on The Joy of Sets Facebook Group and I thought I would make a card using it.  I can’t link to it but it was made by Mindy Karcher and sent to Sammi Little Offield and had an adorable little fox on it.

I thought I would use some of the Wrapped in Plaid Designer Series Paper and the Rustic Retreat stamp set.  I think both of them are great for making masculine cards.

Rustic Retreat

I got my Holiday Catalog preorder and I threw some Annual Catalog stamp sets in because I like to pace myself when ordering so my husband doesn’t take my credit card away.  🙂

I really liked the Rustic Retreat stamp set when I first saw it because it is perfect for masculine cards, and what better for a background than plaid!  I make the plaid background using the Buffalo Check stamp with Early Espresso ink, Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Write Marker, Crumb Cake Stampin’ Write Marker, White Chalk Marker, and a t-square.
