Happy Birthday to my Beautiful Friend

I just got the Friends Are Like Seashells stamp set along with the dies and embossing folder that coordinate. While playing with them trying to find a color combination I liked, this card came about. The only thing from the stamp set et al is the sentiment but it’s a good one. 🙂

This is the sketch that inspired me.

Supplies:
Stamp Sets – Friends Are Like Seashells
Die Cutting & Embossing – Stitched Greenery die, Layering Circles dies, Potted Succulents die

Gnome Birthday

I need some landscape cards for my display board *again*, apparently I think in portrait. So, I went through my email folder where I save off card sketches and pulled a few out to use. Today’s sketch is from Just Add Ink.

I’m using the Rings of Love Sale-a-bration patterend paper and the gnome is from the Storybook Gnomes patterned paper. (The gnome is fussy cut because I chose one that didn’t have a coordinating die. I ran the light Soft Suede Stampin’ Blend around the cut edge so it didn’t stand out so much from the background circle.)

The mushrooms are cut from the Gnome dies, colored using the Poppy Parade Stampin’ Blends, and then coated with clear Wink of Stella. The Happy Birthday comes from my new favorite “Go To Greetings” stamp set and the label is from the Pretty Pillowbox dies.

Supplies:
Stamp Sets – Go To Greetings
Die Cutting & Embossing – Gnomes dies, Pretty Pillowbox dies, Stylish Shapes dies
Ink – Soft Suede stamp pad
Paper – Rings of Love Designer Series Paper (Sale-a-bration), Storybook Gnomes Designer Series Paper, Soft Suede cardstock, Basic White Thick cardstock
Coloring Tools – Clear Wink of Stella, Color Lifter Stampin’ Blend, Poppy Parade Stampin’ Blends, Soft Suede Stampin’ Blends
Tools – Paper Trimmer, Simply Scored, Bone Folder, Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine
Adhesive – Stampin’ SEAL, Stampin’ Dimensionals, liquid glue

Technique Squad Blog Hop – Stamp Kissing

This month the stamping technique we are showcasing is Stamp Kissing. I don’t think I’ve ever done this technique before but it was fun and a happy mistake with an unclean stamp led me to make my first card.

My collection of current solid stamps is paltry so I didn’t have many options but I chose two to use. My first card is using the Bottled Happiness stamp set and the Stacked Stone background stamp. From my recent experience, the kissing seemed to work better if I touched the background pattern to the stamp I wanted to use. I’m not sure if it was because my solid stamps were photopolymer or what but that’s the only way it worked for me.

For the bottle, I inked it in Pool Party and then I pressed the Stacked Stone stamp (inked with Basic Gray) onto it before stamping. For the second bottle, I did the same process but with Fresh Freesia. I like how it looks clear because the shiny hightlights still show up. I placed the bottles on “shelves” with the Stacked Stone as a background. As an afterthought, I should have stamped it afterward with Versamark and embossed with clear embossing powder so they really would be shiny bottles.

My next card is using the daisy from the Hello Ladybug stamp set and the Knit Together background stamp. This time I didn’t ink the background stamp but just used it to remove the ink and leave a pattern. Once again, I stamped the background pattern onto the photopolymer stamp to get the impression.

Next is the incredibly talented Vy Tran.

Playing with Lots of Pun

I’m a bit behind in my Paper Pumpkin kits but I got a chance recently to play with one. I pulled out the Lots of Pun Paper Pumpkin kit from December 2021 and made all the cards mostly as instructed but I had a few extra pieces when I was done. I created these cards with those extra pieces and I recreated the cards with current supplies that I have. What made me want to create more cards was the fun water color wash I created in the background. I touched my Granny Apple Green stamp pad to a clear block and used a water painter to create these fun backgrounds on Shimmery White cardstock. On most of them I stamped speckle images randomly, the Lots of Pun stamp set had a speckle image and for the two using current supplies only the speckle image is from the Color & Contour stamp set.

This first card was inspired by one on the Paper Pumpkin Facebook Live. For most of these, I’m using up some old supplies.

For the flower card, I’m using the Wonderful World Sale-a-bration stamp set and the image was colored using sponge daubers on the Stamparatus.

Finally, the last card is using the Happy Hedgehogs stamp set because it feels more playful than the flower did. The hedgehog was stamped using Early Espresso and then I used a water painter to smear the color around.

Supplies:
Stamp Sets – Lots of Pun Paper Pumpkin December 2021, Art Gallery, Color & Contour, Happy Hedgehogs, Wonderful World (Sale-a-bration)
Die Cutting & Embossing – Beautiful Shapes dies, Stylish Shapes dies, Timeworn Type 3D embossing folder
Punches – Banners pick-a-punch, Hedgehog Builder punch, 1 3/4″ circle punch (retired)
Ink – Early Espresso stamp pad, Granny Apple Green stamp pad, Highland Heather stamp pad
Paper – Basic White Thick cardstock, Granny Apple Green cardstock, Pool Party cardstock, Shimmery White cardstock, Vellum cardstock
Accents & Embellishments – Brushed Brass Butterflies, Elegant Faceted Gems, Pearlized Doilies (retired), Square Vellum Doilies (retired), Holiday Rhinestones Basic Jewels (retired)
Coloring Tools – Water Painters, Sponge Daubers
Tools – Paper Trimmer, Simply Scored, Bone Folder, Stamparatus, Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine, Take Your Pick

Gnome Birthday

There are loads of people in my family with July birthdays so I needed another card so out came the gnomes again. This is almost a one layer card, it could have been if I didn’t use the Stampin’ Blends to color in the images. I started by stamping the gnome then I created a mask to cover him before stamping the mushroom house. For the background, I masked both images before using ink and blending brushes to create the background. I die cut a piece of basic white cardstock with the rounded Basic Border and used it to mask off the areas I didn’t want to color. Then I stamped some grass and colored in the images.

Supplies:
Stamp Sets – Art Gallery, Happy Hedgehogs, Kindest Gnomes
Die Cutting & Embossing – Basic Borders dies
Ink – Balmy Blue stamp pad, Granny Apple Green stamp pad, Memento Tuxedo Black stamp pad
Paper – Basic White cardstock, Night of Navy cardstock
Coloring Tools – Balmy Blue Light, Bronze, Cherry Cobbler Dark, Crumb Cake Light & Dark, Ivory, Night of Navy Light & Dark, and Smoky Slate Light & Dark Stampin’ Blends; Blending Brushes
Tools – Paper Trimmer, Simply Scored, Bone Folder, Stamparatus
Adhesive – Stampin’ SEAL
