I'm an independent Stampin' Up! demonstrator and I'd like to share this fun hobby with you.

Sending Sunshine

I was playing with the June 2020 Paper Pumpkin kit called Sending Sunshine. It had so many leftover pieces I needed to make a few extra cards.

The first card is my least favorite recreation. Apparently my Crushed Curry marker is dry so my lines didn’t come out well in the first card so I went over them with the Mango Melody dark Stampin’ Blend. I think that would have worked better if I’d done it before putting the sun on. The second card is also using Mango Melody but this time I did it before the sun. The last card is using the lines stamp from the kit along with gold embossing powder and that one turned out much better.

This next card turned out a little better. I used one of the basic stencils, versamark, and gold embossing powder to create a polka dot pattern for the background. For the second card, I used a line stamp from Swirly Frames to create a line pattern. For the last card, I cut 1/4″ strips of gold foil and attached them to the card front.

The third card was a lot of trial and error. I put drops of Crushed Curry and Poppy Parade and rubbing alcohol into Stampin’ Spritzers. It was a lot of spraying, pouring, spraying, pouring. Since the ink is dye ink, it tends to stay put and doesn’t more as well as alcohol ink but I think these turned out pretty well. The third card in my recreations is on watercolor paper with watered down ink.

I did learn from this not to drop the reinkers directly onto the paper no matter how wet it was because the ink would stay there. Not exactly what I was going for.

This last card is my favorite, I went to inking with makeup brushes and I’m much better at that. I covered the paper with Crushed Curry and then added some Poppy Parade to it. It’s too bad I don’t have the Tailored Tag punch because I think it would match this label perfectly.

A friend is someone who chooses you…

This background was laying on my craft table left over from my last card so I thought I would use it on this card. The sparkles in the embossing paste reminded me of Just Jade so that is what I pulled out for my card.

Birthday Wishes

I’m still feeling creatively blocked so it’s really hard to create right now. I have two other backgrounds on my crafting table that will likely show up later but I had a hard time figuring out what to do for a background on this card. I still think it’s missing something.

I’m again playing with a sketch challenge and also a color challenge. #cts377 #fabfri192

Life’s a Beautiful Journey

Rachel Tessman has a Zoom meeting for all of the Stampin’ Up! demonstrators in her group and she sent us a couple of make & takes. One of them was this fun fold that I haven’t done for a while. My card is 4 1/4″ x 10 7/8″, scored at 2 1/2″ and 6 3/4″. Her’s is 4 1/4″ x 12″, scored at 3 1/4″ and 7 3/4″.

This one is the make & take.

You Make the World a Better Place

I’m playing with some more of my new toys. I pulled out the Old World Paper 3D embossing folder and the Beautiful World bundle along with Cinnamon Cider to create this card.

I embossed the front of my card with the Old World Paper 3D embossing folder. I tore off about 3/4″ from the right edged and then inked the edge with a sponge and Cinnamon Cider ink. I also lightly rubbed the front of the card with the sponge and Cinnamon Cider ink to pull out some of the details. I embossed the quill in gold but I think I really need a brass embossing powder to match the patterned paper.

I’m playing along with TGIF Challenges #TGIFC268.

Many Mates Just Thinking of You

I thought my last Many Mates & Many Medallions card was just okay but this one I love. I pretty much love everything with Blackberry Bliss and shimmer paint. 🙂

I die cut the Many Medallions background from Blackberry Bliss and then used a makeup brush to ink it with Blackberry Bliss ink to make it a little darker. Then I sprayed it with a mixture of Frost White shimmer paint and alcohol to give it a shimmer. Again I forgot to use adhesive sheets so I put liquid glue on the back of the die cut to mount it on a piece of 4″ x 5 1/4″ Blackberry Bliss. I then popped it up on dimensionals before putting it on a Blackberry Bliss card base.

I used gold embossing powder for the sentiment and pulled out my gold foil sheets to add some more shine. The floral swirl is a hidden gem found in the the Well Written dies.

Many Mates Happy Birthday

I really love background dies so I immediately bought the Many Mates & Many Medallions bundle. I was really hoping that the smaller borders would fit on the big die cut but I haven’t found a way for them to line up yet. Because I couldn’t line them up, I cut out each of the individual squares from one of the borders and placed them on the background.

I stamped the Happy Birthday in Blackberry Bliss and colored in using clear Wink of Stella. If you want to use Wink of Stella on these stamped sentiments, you should either wait longer than I did or emboss them because you can see my ink ran some.

I used liquid glue on the backs of the pieces but it would have been so much easier if I’d thought ahead and put adhesives sheets on the cardstock before die cutting.

June Technique Blog Hop

I’ve joined another monthly blog hop, this one is for Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators and highlights techniques. Check out the Facebook group if you would like to join in.

This month we are showcasing the spotlight technique. For this technique, you only have color in one area of the image. (I’ve done this technique at least one other time.) For this card I chose to use the Free as a Bird stamp set because I could color it in, and that makes the technique even easier.

I stamped the image twice cutting one image out with the Stitched Nested Labels dies and the other one I colored before cutting out with the Stitched Shapes dies.

I also used some new items that will be available on June 3rd: the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper, Tasteful Textile 3D embossing folder, and the Faux Suede Trim.
