Sending a Smile Your Way

I used three stamp sets to make this card but the focus is really the pretty New Horizons paper. I stamped the trees from Campology in Night of Navy and then Mossy Meadow. I inked the bottom with the same colors and my blending brushes. The sentiment is from Many Messages and the birds are from Sailing Home.

Throwback Thursday

I’ve been in a use-things-up mood so when I saw a post by Call Me Crafty Al in her Facebook group using an alternate of her January 2020 Sheetload of Cards sketch, I knew exactly how I to use up some of my old Memories & More cards and patterned paper. I made a huge pile of cards.

Say Goodbye to the Come Sail Away Memories & More Cards

I love to buy the Memories & More card packs but I forget to use them. I recently sent a make & take using these Memories & More cards along with paper from the Come Sail Away Designer Series Paper. Each card will be a little different because there are only two of each design in the card pack. Here was my example card for them.

Sailing Home Shutter Card

The first card we created at my last Cookies & Cards class was a shutter card using the Come Sail Away Suite of products.  I modified the shutter card from MixedUpCraft.com to be the A2 (4 ¼” x 5 ½”) size I’m used to.

Measurements:

Night of Navy Cardstock	5 ½” x 8 ½”, scored at 2 1/8” & 6 3/8” along the long side; 1 ½” x 10”, scored at 2 7/8” & 7 ¼”; 2 ¼” x 3 ¼”; 3 ½” x 2 ½” scored at ½” along long side
Balmy Blue Cardstock	2 1/8” x 2 ¾”
Whisper White Cardstock	2 ½” x 2 ½”
Whisper White Thick Cardstock	2 ¾” x 6 3/8”, scored at ½” & 5 7/8” along long side
Come Sail Away Designer Series Paper (DSP)	(4) 1 7/8” x 5 ¼”

Instructions:

1. Fold Night of Navy card base and attach DSP.
2. Die cut label shape in 2 ¾” x 6 3/8” piece of Whisper White Thick Cardstock. Fold along score lines and use Tear & Tape to attach the top side ONLY in the middle inside panel of the card base.
3. Using Night of Navy ink, stamp inside sentiment on piece of Whisper White Cardstock. Adhere under die cut label so that it is centered.
4. On the 2 ½” x 3 ½” piece of Night of Navy, measure up 1 ½” in the middle of the non-scored side and make a pencil mark. Cut from corners to pencil mark.  Repeat on other piece.  Fold on score, add Tear & Tape between edge and score line.  With Tear & Tape on the outsides, overlap points and center under die cut label.  Remove Tear & Tape backing and close each side of the card base.
5. Attach bottom of Whisper White Thick Cardstock
6. Fold 1 ½” x 10” Night of Navy belly band around card. Use Tear & Tape to attach each end.
7. Using Night of Navy ink, stamp sail boat on Balmy Blue Cardstock and “Congrats” on Whisper White Thick Cardstock. Die cut.
8. Die cut oval from Night of Navy Cardstock and emboss using the High Seas Embossing Folder. Adhere to belly band with trinket and twine.

FYI: The width of your shutter card is determined by how large your opening is.  Mine was a smaller label because that’s what was in the suite, the card I based this off of had a much larger opening.  Secondly, my card was 4 ¼” wide in the center so the distance from the side of the shutter with the score line to the point you cut to needed to be 2″ . That is 4 ¼” – ¼” (for wiggle room)/2.

Sailing Home along the Waterfront

I inked the background of this card and I didn’t like how even I got the water and the sand.  So, I pulled out the Waterfront stamp set to add some texture back in to the background.  🙂  The sand is Crumb Cake, the water is Balmy Blue, and sky is Night of Navy.

Sailing Home Buckle Card

I was in a card swap over the weekend and we all had to make fun folds.  I chose to make a buckle card like I did posted last week.  Check out that post for instructions.

I didn’t have enough patterned paper for the white piece so I made my own using the compass from the stamp set and Night of Navy ink, then I embossed it using the Subtle 3D embossing folder.  Behind the sentiment, the anchor is stamped in Balmy Blue after I stamped it on a piece of scrap paper or I thought it was too dark and interfered with the sentiment.  The Balmy Blue piece is embossed using the High Seas 3D embossing folder and cut with the Stitched Nested Labels dies to make it look like the boat is sailing.
