… the So Sentimental stamp set and the So Sentimental bundle. I will miss this stamp set because it was great for impactful sentiments but at least the Stitched So Sweetly dies are staying.

This month’s blog hop technique is Mock Croc also known as faux alligator/crocodile. Nicole is really good at finding techniques I’ve never tried or in this case heard of but I loved it.
I started by running a little piece of adhesive on the back of my cardstock and sticking it to a piece of printer paper. Next I covered it with with Versamark ink by dragging and tapping my ink pad all over the cardstock. After that, you coat it with clear embossing powder. Then you drag a bone folder through the embossing folder to create lines, draw them diagonally one way and then the other. You don’t want straight lines which is fortunate for me because I’m incapable of drawing straight lines, I didn’t try very hard to make these lines wobbly. Finally you use your heat tool to melt the embossing powder, this takes a little time.
I started by making a treat box because to me mock croc looks like it should be on a bag.
Then I decided to make a card featuring the background. I think it looks really elegant in black.

One of my close friends lost one of her cats earlier this year and now recently lost her second. I created this card for her, it’s closer to what I was going for when I was playing with the watercolor crystals last week.
I ended up coloring the embossing with my Stampin’ Blends. I couldn’t get the background to be smooth so I sprayed the panel with Frost White Shimmer paint mixed with rubbing alcohol in a spritzer. It’s pretty sparkly but you can’t see it so well in the photos.
I covered the round bits (I’m not sure what to call them) with the small round sequins from the Sequins for Everything collection.

I love fonts and I especially love them mixed. I choose this sentiment as my focal point because of that mix. I also like how the font works with the die cut.
To give it a little of interest, I used an embossing folder for the backgrounds and some dimensionals to allow for shadows.

I participated in a swap this month using either carry-over items or new catalog items. I chose to use a carry-over stamp set. I’m using the Mojo Monday Sketch #536 again for this card. My mojo is still running low so I’ve learned that the easiest way for me to work around that is to use sketches and apparently monochromatic color schemes.
I have three versions of my card. First is my original design. I embossed a 4″ x 5 1/4″ panel and adhered it to the front of the card and I used the Scalloped Lace Trim.
I normally don’t like to emboss my card base but in this instance I thought it looked better to have the entire front of the card embossed. I also didn’t have enough of the Scalloped Lace Trim for all of the swap cards, so out it went too. Here is my second card and my swap card.
I also made one more card like my original with the Scalloped Lace Trim but the whole front of the card embossed. This one is my favorite. You probably can’t see it in the photos but the butterflies have Wink of Stella on them.
