Kristie and I designed eight cards for a Stamp-a-Stack we had on Saturday. Today I’m showing you the four cards I made, I will show you her cards on Thursday.
I created these cards to showcase retiring stamp sets and use up some of my paper hoard. The first three cards were inspired by Kristie Marcotte (not the Kristie I run classes with) and were based on Freshly Made Sketch 625, CardzTV Sketch 2, and OWH Sketch 218, respectively.
I really marvel at Kendra’s Card Challenges because she uses such unique layouts that inspire me. However, I tend to make quite a mess on my craft table with all the supplies I pull out to make them.
I created all of these cards using Kendra’s Card Challenge 14. Although I followed the instructions for most of the cards, for some of them, I swapped out the recommended paper because the color combinations didn’t look good together. There were a few combinations that I didn’t like, but I still decided to keep them.
Today, I am using Tawny Owl Paperie’s Inky Inspiration Sketch 19 to create my project. I used the Distressed Tile 3D folder to emboss the Petal Pink background and a piece of daisy paper from the Delightfully Eclectic patterned paper. To add variation, I made two versions of the project- one on a Petal Pink base and the other on an Early Espresso base. Which one do you like more?
I stamped the daisy onto the Petal Pink cardstock using Whisper White ink and my Stamparatus. For the Early Espresso card base, I stamped the daisy three times, heat set the ink, and then stamped the sentiment. Similarly, for the Petal Pink card base, I stamped the daisy three times, heat set the ink, and then stamped it once more with white ink, heat set again, and finally stamped the sentiment.
Today I’m playing along with Sketch-N-Scrap card sketch 239. I’m continuing my effort to use up patterned paper and loving the Blushing Bride/Merry Merlot color combination. One thing on today’s card that I haven’t remember to do for a while is add a couple of scraps of cardstock behind the sentiment layer to balance out the height with the two layered circle on the right. You may or may not be able to tell that my close up photo is showing the scraps of Merry Merlot cardstock used to level out the sentiment strip.

This month the stamping technique we are showcasing is Stamp Kissing. I don’t think I’ve ever done this technique before but it was fun and a happy mistake with an unclean stamp led me to make my first card.
My collection of current solid stamps is paltry so I didn’t have many options but I chose two to use. My first card is using the Bottled Happiness stamp set and the Stacked Stone background stamp. From my recent experience, the kissing seemed to work better if I touched the background pattern to the stamp I wanted to use. I’m not sure if it was because my solid stamps were photopolymer or what but that’s the only way it worked for me.
For the bottle, I inked it in Pool Party and then I pressed the Stacked Stone stamp (inked with Basic Gray) onto it before stamping. For the second bottle, I did the same process but with Fresh Freesia. I like how it looks clear because the shiny hightlights still show up. I placed the bottles on “shelves” with the Stacked Stone as a background. As an afterthought, I should have stamped it afterward with Versamark and embossed with clear embossing powder so they really would be shiny bottles.
My next card is using the daisy from the Hello Ladybug stamp set and the Knit Together background stamp. This time I didn’t ink the background stamp but just used it to remove the ink and leave a pattern. Once again, I stamped the background pattern onto the photopolymer stamp to get the impression.
My son turned 15 on Sunday (whoops not yesterday as i previously had) and he has always like fun fold cards. This year I tried someting huge, I created a Expanding Accordian Fold card based on Sam Calcott’s directions at Mixed Up Craft.

This card that Kristie created for our last class is just so cute. I love that she used non-ladybug-like colors for the ladybug punch, and they glitter. She also used an action wobble behind the bug to make it move.
