Butterfly Brilliance Class Card

Today marks the start of the new 2022-2023 Annual Catalog! Click on the Stampin’ Up! logo to the right to start shopping.

This card I created for my class last Saturday was inspired by a card I did a while ago. It’s a similar layout but I think it looks completely different.

Measurements:

Basic White Thick cardstock5 ½” x 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼” (cardbase) 3 ¼” x 5 ½”, 2” x 2 ¾”
Polished Pink cardstock2” x 2 ¾”
New Horizons 6”x6” Designer Series Paper (DSP)2” x 5 ½”

Instructions:

  1. Using Polished Pink, stamp the sentiment on the 2” x 2 ¾” piece of Basic White Thick cardstock, die cut using a Stitched Rectangle die.
  2. Using the cloud border die, cut the 3 ¼” x 5 ½” piece of Basic White Thick cardstock lining up the edges at about 1 ¼” from the bottom.  (Make sure the clouds are the way you want them.)  Emboss the cut pieces.
  3. Die cut the butterfly from the Polished Pink cardstock, cover with Clear Wink of Stella.
  4. Stamp the butterfly on the inside of the cardbase, fold in half.  Adhere the piece of DSP about ¾” from the bottom.
  5. Add dimensionals to the die cut cloud pieces, use a tiny amount of liquid glue to the dimensionals and add to the front of the cardbase.  (The liquid glue will give you some wiggle room to line up the pieces.)
  6. Fold the 2 ½” piece of ribbon and adhere behind the sentiment rectangle.  You may want to use glue dots for this.  Add to the cardbase using liquid glue.
  7. Add a few dots of liquid glue to the middle back of the butterfly and adhere on the patterned paper as shown.
This is the card that inspired me.

Technique Squad April Blog Hop

Welcome to the Technique Squad April Blog Hop. This month we are featuring the stained glass technique. Again, I’ve never tried this one before but it looked like fun.

I stamped my butterfly onto a window sheet using Staz-on ink and then colored the BACK of the image with my Bermuda Bay and Melon Mambo Stampin’ Blends. You want to color on the back of the window sheet or you will smear the Staz-on since it’s an alcohol based ink.

I really wanted to do this with the Wild Roses background stamp but it had just a bit too much that stamps and I couldn’t get it quite fully black on the window sheet. The retired Beautiful Bouquet stamp would be beautiful for this, I may need to pull that out.

I cut apart my Butterfly Brilliance stamp set and Brilliant Wings die so the butterfly stamp was a little easier for me to place. You can do it with the butterflies all together but it may be a little more challenging to get the butterfly in the right spot.

Supplies:
Stamp Sets – Butterfly Brilliance, Simply Succulents, Wild Roses
Die Cutting & Embossing – Brilliant Wings dies, Potted Succulents dies, Tasteful Textile 3D embossing folder
Ink – Staz-on stamp pad, Versamark stamp pad, Pool Party stamp pad
Paper – Basic Black cardstock, Basic White cardstock, Pool Party cardstock, Window Sheets

Butterfly Brilliance Get Well

Technique Blog Hop

This month’s technique is Masked Grid or Retiform. Nicole has picked another technique I’ve never tried before but it was fun to experiment. I bought some large 6″ x 8″ post it notes to use for this. I probably could have done more areas but I like how it turned out. I included a picture of the process with all the post it notes and one of the background before I added anything. I chose to overlap some of the color segments and not some of the others, there was really no plan going in.

Stamping INKspirations Blog Hop

Welcome to the March Stamping INKspirations Blog Hop. This month’s theme is anything Easter and/or Spring!

The snow is melting, the birds are chirping and I’m looking forward to seeing butterflies as the weather warms.

I used Versamark to stamp the butterflies on white cardstock and heat emboss with white embossing powder. Using blending brushes, I inked the background with Bumblebee, Magenta Madness, and Misty Moonlight. The background is also sprayed with shimmer paint to give it some shine.

Butterfly Brilliance Swap Card

I joined in a swap for the new Butterfly Brilliance bundle and the limited time only paper (Butterfly Bijou 6″ x 6″ designer series paper and Natural Touch Specialty paper).

Not only do I have the butterfly swap in this post but I have two others to show how the same layout can be made no mater what you have. One of them is even masculine.

The squares are 1 1/2″ and the mat is 1 5/8″ with alternate corners rounded.

I sprayed Frost White Shimmer Paint mixed with rubbing alcohol on both layers of the butterfly but you can’t really see it in my photos.

The dragonfly was stamped on vellum cardstock using Mossy Meadow and then embossed using clear embossing powder. It works on vellum because the dye ink doesn’t dry quickly, if at all.

My photo also doesn’t show how the gold embossing is shiny on the globe and base as well as the brass in the goldish paper.

Stamp Sets – A Little Lace, Beautiful World, Butterfly Brilliance, Dragonfly Garden
Die Cutting & Embossing – Brilliant Wings dies, World Map dies

Paper – Butterfly Bijou 6″x6″ designer series paper, Dandy Garden 6″x6″ designer series paper, World of Good Specialty designer series paper, Basic Black cardstock, Basic White Thick cardstock, Misty Moonlight cardstock, Vellum cardstock
