Clear Block Stamping Technique Blog Hop

This month’s technique is clear block stamping and with many of the techniques so far, I’ve never done this before. So what I learned is that you need a soft surface under your paper for the block stamping or you many miss the ink from the middle of the block. Secondly I learned that the foam stamp pads work much better than the old linen stamp pads (or it just may be that my Night of Navy is sooo old it needs replacing).

I tried this technique two ways, the first was entirely stamping with ink on the block. I liked it but not as much as my second version where I sprayed water on the block after inking it and stamping on watercolor paper.

I also learned that this much ink will be darker than a regular stamped image. My Coastal Cabana ink is darker than the cardstock card-base and my Highland Heather ink on the watercolor paper more closely matched Gorgeous Grape.

I sprayed Frost White Shimmer Paint mixed with rubbing alcohol in a Stampin’ Spritzer on the watercolor paper card but the pictures make it look more like errant embossing powder in the photos. 🙂
