Say Goodbye to Dragonfly Dreams and the Detailed Dragonfly dies

I was inspired by a post by Jennifer McGuire to create this card.  Instead of coloring the glimmer paper though, I pulled out the Myths & Magic glimmer paper that retired last year.  I just love the color and how glittery it is.  The frame and the dragonflies are three layers thick, I glued each together to give them a little more heft.

Stamp-a-Stack, card layout 3

This past weekend I held a Stamp-a-Stack at my house where we created 12 cards, 3 each of 4 designs. This is the third post sharing the cards this week.

I don’t know the original inspiration for this card since I saw it so long ago but I somewhat followed this card by Lyssa Griffin Zwolanek and this one by Tami White.  The slit is 1 1/2″ long at the halfway point.

Also, today is the last day to order any of the retiring products that haven’t sold out yet!

Say Goodbye to Swan Lake

Swan Lake is a cute set but I’ve had trouble thinking of ideas on how to use it.  I’ve had these marbled papers sitting on my craft table for a few months now waiting for me to think of a way to use them and today is the day one of them is getting used.  I did the shaving cream technique using Dapper Denim and Pool Party.  My goal was to create a galaxy background like Linda Dalke created but since I had the marbled shaving cream I created some backgrounds with that too.  I used the Watercolor pencils and Blender pen to add a little color to the swan.

Say Goodbye to Watercolor Wash

When I first saw the Watercolor Wash stamp in the catalog I had to have it.   I LOVE the look of a watercolor wash but I’m not very good at doing it.  For this card I was inspired by Jennifer McGuire (LOVE HER!), she uses rainbow colors on all sorts of things and I thought it would look good on the Watercolor Wash stamp.  For both cards I used the following Stampin’ Write Markers: Rose Red, Tangerine Tango, Daffodil Delight, Wild Wasabi, Tempting Turquoise, and Elegant Eggplant.  All of these colors except Daffodil Delight are retiring.

For the first card, I added the color to the Watercolor Wash stamp using the markers and then I sprayed it a few times with water before stamping.

For the second card, I added the color to the Watercolor Wash stamp using the markers and then I sprayed the paper a few times with water before stamping.

I love how “smooshed” the second card is!  The Happy Birthday was done using Versamark and black embossing powder which is coming back in the new catalog!

Say Goodbye to Sunshine & Rainbows

I’m not lacking examples using this card but I did want to show one last card…well two cards but neither really worked the way I wanted them to.  I have issues with shaker cards, things always stick to the acetate no matter what I rub across it.  Maybe if I actually use the Stampin’ Up! window sheets it would go better but I have this pile of acetate scraps that I’ve saved from who knows what that I keep using and the shaker items always start sticking.  I thought the original layout was really cute, now if I just hadn’t put glitter in there.  🙂  The stars are from the retired Confetti Stars Border which is no longer available, the Confetti Hearts Border is currently on the clearance rack and would work as well.

J. Pollock Designs - Stampin' Up! - Sunshine & Rainbows

The second layout I used a foam adhesive circle leftover from a past Paper Pumpkin kit and some shaker elements my kids gave me years ago that I haven’t used.

J. Pollock Designs - Stampin' Up! - Sunshine & Rainbows

I like the bigger circle better but I was trying to fit into the adhesive circle I had already.

Hold on to Hope

Say goodbye to the Hold on to Hope bundle but the stamps and dies are sticking around.  Okay so it’s a pause in the Say Goodbye series so I can show you what we made at my last Cookies & Cards class.  I CASE’d almost exactly what Connie Stewart did with her card and I think Connie was inspired by this card from Jackie Bohlhuis unless they were both inspired by someone else that neither names.  I really wanted to make a card that didn’t use the cross to show how versatile it can be.  I used the Pink Pirouette Blends to color my ribbon,  I started with the dark Blend pictured here but then switched to the  light Blend because it is a closer match to the paper.

OnStage Gifts

My fellow demonstrators are just such generous people.  I received the following gifts in Milwaukee (#OnStage2018) and I wanted to share them with you.  Tomorrow I plan to show you the swaps I received.  Fingers crossed because the shelf that holds my dies above my Big Shot fell down and I need to get that fixed.  😦

This first one is from Cheryl Lee (my direct upline) for my promotion to Silver.

Fun Things Happen When We Gather

Not long ago I got together with a few demonstrators over at Rachel Tessman’s house because Mackenzie was in town visiting.  It was a good enough excuse to gather and make some cards together.  I’d just driven back from our Spring Break trip to see family in Illinois so I didn’t have time to create a make & take to share but here is what some of the others created for us to make.

Rachel used the new Paper Pumpkin kit and a note card for her make & take.

Susan used the Myths & Magic suite for her card.

Vicki used a fun fold and the Petal Palette Bundle for her card.
