October Technique Blog Hop

This month our technique is using shaving cream. I created shaving cream backgrounds to use on my cards. I apologize now because there are loads of photos in this post. I created 8 backgrounds.

I started by buying some shaving cream because my husband used up the last one I bought for crafting. 🙂

Grab a paper plate and spread some shaving cream on it, drop some ink, and then run a knife through it to get a pattern. I started with Pool Party and Highland Heather. (I planned to use Balmy Blue but I grabbed the wrong reinker.) I used Whisper White Thick and Shimmery White cardstock for my inked backgrounds. I think the Shimmery White worked best.

My first two prints were not nearly inked enough so I added drops of Bermuda Bay and Gorgeous Grape. I used my knife to move the ink around and started my prints. It can get messy.

I started with my favorite background and made a card using the Snowflake Wishes bundle.

My next cards all have about the same layout but each look slightly different because of the unique backgrounds. I started with some Balmy Glue Glimmer paper behind the snowflake cut out, then went to Pool Party and Bermuda Bay sprayed with Frost White Shimmer Paint.

I used one of my backgrounds to die cut snowflakes and I still have two left that I didn’t like as well. I will eventually die cut something from them.
