Sunshine & Rainbows – Day 2

I apologize right now, this is a heavy photo post.  I really need to figure out a way to do videos because that would have been easier.

This is the card I demo’ed at Demos Galore and I used it to offer a few tips for working with the Sunshine & Rainbows bundle.

The first tip was for putting the rainbow together.

I started with a thin piece of cardstock and added a little SNAIL to the end of it.  I used SNAIL because it doesn’t have an immediate strong bond and I need to move the little arches around.  Okay, you can’t really see it in the photo but there is SNAIL along the left end of the strip of cardstock.

Then one by one, I added the different arches in order.  (My children used to watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse when they were little and the rainbow song from that show goes through my mind every time I put together a rainbow.)  I start with the Real Red all the way to the left so no white is showing and then continue on with the other colors.

When they are tightly attached to the white cardstock, cut off the white cardstock slightly behind the Elegant Eggplant.

I then do the same thing at the top and other side of the rainbow.  You don’t have to do the strip in the middle but it does help with stability and lining up the ends on the second side.  One of the customers at Demos Galore called it a Rainbow-on-a-stick which is so fitting for Minnesota.

The second tip is to create your own stencil using the cloud edgelits.  I made my test out of Whisper White but then decided to use the Window Sheets so it will last longer and I can see where I’m putting it.

I used Soft Sky and a sponge to lightly add cloud borders.  I started the sponge on the stencil and worked onto the paper in a circular motion.  It’s really hard to see in the photos.

To finish up the card, I used the clouds edgelits to cut clouds out of Whisper White and the Myths & Magic glimmer paper, added them to the cloud panel, tucked in the rainbow, added the sun and then put it all on a card base.  When I remembered, I inked the edges of the Whisper White clouds with some Soft Sky ink.
