Watercolor Christmas Cards

This past weekend I had a class using the Watercolor Christmas card kit and I showed them how to double the number of cards they can make based on Rachel Tessman’s blog post here.  Her ideas are confined to each set of cards so you can make between 20 and 40 cards for this kit depending on what you need.  Rachel only used the supplies for the set of 4 cards to make the 8 cards, genius!

I do have a couple of suggestions if you want to try this.

  • When stamping on the colored pieces, set them aside to dry or you will smear the ink. J. Pollock Designs - Stampin' Up!
  • Put down some Fast Fuse and then put the sequin trim into it to hold it in place.  (The Stampin’ Up! video I’m including at the end had this suggestion and it worked great.
  • Stamping right on the card base is scary for me since I don’t always stamp well on the first try.  Leave the stamp down for a few seconds longer only gently pushing to wait for the ink to transfer.
  • If your image didn’t stamp perfectly black, use either the Black Stampin’ Write Marker or a Sharpie pen to fill it in.
  • You will need 3 pieces of Whisper White (I used thick) per set of cards to double them, so 15 to double the entire kit.

Here are the cards that the kit was designed to make.  You can make 5 each of the 4 cards.

Here are all the cards I make from the kit:

Here are each of the cards:

For this card, the original design was to use the sequins as the berries but we though that red berries would look so much better so I colored some rhinestones with the Cherry Cobbler Dark Stampin’ Blend.

Just in case you don’t stamp the trees cleanly, pull out the metallic sequins from last year and put some stars on top of the trees.

Here are the rest of the cards:

You can’t see it well in the photo, but I put Wink of Stella on all the little berries.IMG_3590_watermark

Attach the red banner first, hold the label in place to see where to stamp the branches, move the label and then stamp. IMG_3589_watermarkIMG_3585_watermarkIMG_3582_watermark

Place the red strips red side together and you can cut the angle at the same time.IMG_3581_watermark
